"Each nude figure is presented on a simple background, her skin darkened to a deep ebony, and the figure adorned with a bright red grapefruit. Her [Eva's] studies bring Irving Penn to mind, but her intention runs deeper than an interest in pure form." - Suzanne Révy, What Will You Remember.

Project: Size of a Grapefruit

Leica Award Winning series-August 2019

Concept: a visual narrative based on Eva’s traumatic medical event which highlights the emotional stages from before, during and after her ovarian surgery. Her objective is to expose the overall outdated information women have available regarding reproductive health, and the mistreatment Black women experience during times of medical crisis.

Exhibited: In Leica Galleries: Boston & Bellevue, Washington | Berlin, Germany.

Weight of Black Conciousness

003

Project: Weight of Black Consciousness

Concept: Commissioned by Skillshare, The Weight of Black Consciousness is a commentary on the burden society has placed on Black people to save us all. Intersectionality, Black fem’s, and womxn have continued to hold the country up with our advocacy, organizing, and self-sacrifice. To me, this image is similar to the Greek story of Prometheus, the demi-god that essentially sacrificed himself by giving human beings fire in order to survive.

Exhibited: Sacral. Retrospective 2023.

Featured in: Skillshare BHM Campaign 2021.

Embrace Your Essence

007

Project: Embrace Your Essence

Concept: First produced in 2015, the series focuses on young people's journeys toward self-love—defining what they find beautiful about themselves. Many of the narratives included illnesses, challenges to meet Western standards of beauty, queer identities, and quirks that once negatively affected their self-esteem.

Exhibited: Sacral. Retrospective 2023. NYC Instagram Office.

Featured in: Huffington Post & Huffington Post-Black Voices. AfroPunk. Marie Claire, Italia. Business Inside, Cosmopolitan. Variety.
